Suspended ceiling sprinklers

Hi all,
we have to do calculation for a sprinkler system. But we have upright sprinklers in concealed spaces below ceiling with in the sprinklers protecting the room ( as in FIGURE 8.14.19.3.3 of the NFPA 13 -2003 ed) . For the hydraulic calculation shall i have to consider all these suspended ceiling upright sprinklers with the pendent sprinklers which corresponds the sprinkler area of operation. This doubles the quantity of the foreseen activated sprinkler and flow rate.

I'm not sure I understand your question fully but if you see section 14.4.4.3, Design Densitites, that may help you out.

In my understanding of your question, it sounds like if you calculate the highest demanding sprinklers, you can omit the sprinklers above or below the ceiling. Whichever is less demand.

Again, I'm not understanding the question so read that section to help clarify

yeah..based on what I think you are saying, you only calculate one "level" of sprinklers in this situation. You would need to determine which is the more demanding for your calculations. This may mean that you need to calculate both to determine, but you flow them independently of each other.
