Does anybody know how to decide the number of branches in a SVC?

The question is to design a SVC using TSC and TCR for smooth control say around -100 to 400 mvar connected to a 345 kv bus via a transformer of suitable size. Kindly help! I really dont know where and how to start!

Thanks!

Welcome to Eng Tips!

From your handle and the word "mvar", I gather that this might be an electrical problem. You might want to post your question in one of the electrical forums. On the top of the page just to the right of the middle, there is a dark blue box labeled "forums". If you click on that, you'll see options to browse forums or to obtain a forum list. Choosing either of those options, you'll come across forum237, forum238 or even forum248.

If you do post in one (and only one!) of those forums, you might also consider spelling out your TLA's* -- you get people from all over the world here and from a vast variety of fields. The accronym you're used to using may mean something totally different to someone else -- resulting in you getting a response that looks like gibberish, when the person responding was trying to be helpful.

Additionally, if you post in another forum, please come back and either "red flag" this one for deletion or post a link to the other forum. It's extremely frustrating to the long-time users to spend time writing a detailed response to a question, only to move to another forum and find that someone else also responded to the same question and you've wasted your time responding to something that has already been answered.

Finally, you might want to look at the FAQ listed in my tag line.

oh, and a TLA is a "three letter accronym."
