Hello Guys,

i recently upgraded from a 32 bit version to a 64 bit version due to memory demands (without changing any hardware).

The 64 somehow "feels" a lot slower though. It's realy noticeable when sketching, the response is simply sluggish . Everytime it executes a command you kind of feel it's pain chrunching away (and meanwhile hope it doesn't crash).

Is this common for the 64 in regard to the 32 version? Furthermore most drivers are up to date i believe.
The laptop is a Dell M4400 with a P8600@2.4GHz.

Is a hardware upgrade at hand guys?

Again, thank you all kindly.

A 64 bit OS is neither faster nor slower than 32 bit ... it just recognises more RAM. Did you add more?

Which flavour of Windows?
What graphics card and driver?
Have you set Windows options for performance and disabled unnecessary 'bling'?

A hardware upgrade would be good for performance.

Windwows: 7 pro (64)
driver: Nvidia 8.16.11.8992
Virtual memory: by system
memory: 4GB (SW rarely uses more than 2 though)
SW: 2009/2010

I have played with the windows setting(best performance/best graphics) but it didn't seem to make a lot of difference.
