SW Errors out when opening STEP files

I've talked with Scott a little on this and have emptied my temp file. When opening a STEP file SW errors out and terminates giving an "Unhandled Error" message. Another pc can open STEP files fine, however another STEP file errors out his and SW crashes. I think the STEP files from a certain supplier may be questionable but I also may have a problem on my pc. I just don't know where to look. System is P4 2.8G processor, 2GB ram, OS is XP SP2, 150 GB Hard drive. On both machines we uninstalled SW 2004 and installed 2005 SP0.0 last week. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 2005 since on mine. Unfortrunately, I only have STEP files from the one company and don't have any others to try. I appreciate any help.

In the Open dialog when you choose STEP for "Files of type:", there will be an Options button show up.

Have you tried messing with those options to see if you get better results?

Yea, it didn't seem to make any difference.

Try downloading some STEP files from other suppliers on the web & see if you have the same problem when opening.

[cheers] & all the best.

rcass,
If the file came from a supplier or customer, have them verify the STEP file on there CAD system before sending it to you. From my past experiences, people do not verify the data before sending it, which results in a failed import.
