During training for PDMWorks, my co-workers and I were told that the SW setting "Search file locations for external references" should be left on to force SoldWorks to look for referenced documents in the local folder established as a PDMWorks "workspace".
However, in PDMWorks help, under "best practices", it advises otherwise (see below)
"To control file use (for example, references to Toolbox or other files when opening documents in a PDMWorks Vault), SolidWorks recommends that you clear the option Search file locations for external references in Tools, Options, System Options, External References.
If PDMWorks does not locate the reference file in the Vault, you can correct the reference or locate the correct file manually."
Which one is the better option and why?
