I have been using 2001plus for about two years, but we recently (last week) jumped to 2004 sp2.1 (I am the guinea pig). My question is that I have an assembly model that has some wiring coming off from it going to a connector, with terminals and plugs. I don't have these modeled, but I need to add them into the BoM. In 2001plus I could alter the Excel file. Here, well.... I am having a lot of difficulty with this. I want to add item numbers and just tack on these components, but how. Thanks.

What we do in these situations is just use a 'dummy' part. I will just create a part file with no geometry and add it to the assembly.

We are still using the old Excel file not the new BOM.

I think what Bradley means is instead of using Insert > Tables > Bill of Materials, use Insert > Tables > Excel Based Bill of Materials. You can now alter the excel file, just like you did in 2001plus.

With the new non Excel BOM you can add rows to the BOM by Highlighting the row where you want to insert an empty row and then Right Mouse Button click and then select Insert - Row Above or Row Below.

The contents of this row can be edited as you wish.

The new BOM does not have everything you could do with the Excel BOM (a lot of that was unsuppported - you are on your own type stuff !)but I love the speed of the new BOM and NO OLE ! I hope design tables go the same route.
