Hi guys,

I'm having an incredibly painful time at the moment with SW2009. It seems that after some saves, Solidworks crashes to the desktop and corrupts the file that was open. Because when you go open the file after the crash it just instantly crashes again. ARGHHHH!

I've had this happen on multiple different parts and assemblies. The behaviour appears to be very random and is driving me nuts.

I was wondering if anybody had come across this kind of behaviour or is it just me?

Haven't tried v2009 yet, but had something similar with SP0 of v2007 with assemblies.

My advice would be to stop opening files in v2009 ASAP (and back up everything before opening, for sure) and contact your VAR right away. They will probably have you run SolidWorks RX and send them the files so they can check things out and find the problem.

Going back a step, how was '09 installed? Did you do it as an upgrade to '08 or as a new install? If it was new, did you do a clean install?
Are these files that were created in '08 or are they original '09 files?

Thanks for all your input guys.

I think I've traced the problem back to an addin that was doing some funny things. I've disabled it and not having any more issues.

FYI I did a fresh install from downloaded files. This was happening on '08 files.

Thanks once again.

Good question Jeff I've seen some issues with older template files being used for 2009 and having Tolerance problems on the 2009 files such as zero tolerance being unavailable for limit tolerances. The workarund to that was to use the 2009 default formats and paste in the slddrt template to fix the problems.
