Does anyone know how to sweep a mesh in ABAQUS?

Here's what I want to do, which I know you can do in ansys.

1. Create a quarter of a sphere. Done.

2. Divide this in half. Done

3. Partition one of the cut faces into smaller areas. Done.

4. Mesh the partitioned face areas.

5. Sweep this mesh throughout the part.

I have tried to sweep the partition through the sphere and then mesh this, but I cannot get a symmetric pattern. The end result is that one or the other halves has more elements even though I have specified the same number of elements for an identical line on each half.

Assuming that I've interpreted steps 1 and 2 correctly, Partition the face. Then choose Element shape = "Hex-dominant", technique = "Sweep" and Algorithm = "Advancing Front". Also, make sure the sweep direction is correct. This works for me...
