I just had a mechanical engineering colleague ask me an interesting question.

He is looking at replacing the mechanical system for an indoor swimming pool area. The owner was talking about being concerned about the hanger rods supporting the lay-in ceiling failing because they have rusted over time (the area has had inadequate ventilation for years). That comment got him thinking about the main roof structure. Has anyone seen corrosion from inadequate ventilation in a pool area?

I would think it's certainly possible if you have inadequate ventilation in an area with high humidity and the chemicals used in the pool.

Yes. Well not from a pool, mine was a water treatment plant. However yes, inadequate ventilation can definitely cause corrosion to the point of worry.
