Switching transient in low voltage system

I'm looking for a guideline value for maximum switching transient voltage allowed in a single-phase low voltage (240V) motor. The switch can be simple device of complicated relay/PLC system.
What would be the tolerable transient on single-phase 240V motor winding? What value do manufacturers and commercial users use as guidelines?
Appreciate any guidance towards relevant standards.

There is no simple answer to this question as the requirements deal with electromagnetic emissions, transient rise times and the nature of the installation. It is not a "Voltage Limit" type spec.

However these standards will cover much of what you need:
VDE 0160, 0433
VG 95370, 95371, 95373
MIL-STD-704
MIL-STD-461
IEC-60, 255

It is also no longer universal to all motors. VFD use has spawned a new trend to go with higher insulation values on motor windings, but that relates to 3 phase motors since that is where VFDs are used. I'm not sure about 1 phase designs.

VFD's are also used on single phase motors as well, although not as common.
