Anyone have a Moody Chart that considers the effects of swril and axial velocity onto the friction factor? I presume that the Reynolds number is to be multiplied by the Swril number (or Richardson factor). [sig][/sig]
The moody chart assumes that the flow is along the axis of the pipe. You undoubtedly are interested to know how to apply the chart in the instance when say water is flowing down the drain and as a result of coriolis forces "swirls". However I don't see any real reason why you can't apply the chart; assuming perhaps some adjustment factor, to the resulant velocity of the fluid. If you know for instance how many turns the fluid makes in a second and the axial distanced travelled and the radius of the pipe then the net velocity should be relatively easy to calcutate. Well it's not that easy.
