Hello all,

I'm wondering how many of you are planning to go to the SW world Conference in Orlando this upcoming year?

I'm trying to find the money to send myself, but without a job and without any work coming in. It makes it a bit hard to not only make the bills, but to plan a trip to the Conference.

I went to this in 2000, and I must say SW knows how to have a Conference, but more importantly they know how to throw a PARTY!

So if any of you are debting on going. I would say quit debting and go tell your boss to stop thinking about it and start making the arrangements cause your going and that FINAL. ;-)

Its extremly helpful. I learned a lot from the breakout sessions that I attended in 2000.

If your company is doing really good for itself...ask them if they will send me ;-).

Well if I do make it, and any of you go, we will have to try and met up somewhere.

I totally agree with Scott. Go if you can. I went for the first time last year & had basically the same experience he's describing. Came away with lots of new tricks & ideas. And he's right; SolidWorks and the other sponsors of the event put on one heck of a shindig! I'm going to do my best to make it this year, too.

Also, don't forget; you (or your company) save $200 for registering on or before November 15th, and another $200 if you happen to be a CSWP.

An employee from our department, a couple of years ago, was already approved to go to the SolidWorks World Conference. He was going to just the modeling break out sections. I went to my boss and begged to let me go. The boss said, “I would have to prove that sending me was worth the $2000[/red]”. O.K. I will keep track of the money I save the company. I went to all API break out sections that I could fit in. With these ideas I came back to work and build several Visual Basic Macros. The time saved by using these macros saved the company $58,000 by May. I stopped keeping track after that. We have 19 SolidWorks users. A seven-minute savings turns into a lot of money. I am not saying this was a cakewalk. It was a lot of hard work, at the conference and once I got back to work. I was not a programmer then, nor am I yet a programmer now. Bradley

I went this year in Vegas and am going next year. I like the way Bradley figured in the amount of users. We have a very large user base. If I can walk away with one great idea the trip is paid for and then some. BBJT CSWP

Hey, does anyone happen to have the inside scoop on where SWW will be held in future years? I personally would like to see it in San Deigo or LA, being a SoCal resident. I'd bet there's a ton of other SoCal users who agree. Charley Leonard

I'd love to see one at the LA Convention Center, seeing how I live in Hollywood. But I also would love to be able to attend the one next year in Orlando since I am originally from Cocoa Beach. Humm, maybe if my company can swing it, I'll offer to be a local tour guide. "The attempt and not the deed confounds us."

I'm attending SWW in Orlando this year, and am trying to decide whether or not to reserve a rental car. What's your input on the subject? Is it needed? Charley Leonard

It really depends on what you hope to do and how much time you have to do it in. If you are getting a few extra days before or after SWWC, and you want to hit some attractions (or site see), then I would get a rental.

Taxis aren't that popular in FL, and they are expensive. Shuttles from hotels to attractions are common, but you are tied to set arrival and departure times.

Rental cars should run ~$45 a day, and I feel they are very worth it considering the freedom they afford you. "The attempt and not the deed confounds us."

I can't go now. I did finally get a job, but I have to stay here and answer the phones :-( Oh well, its a job none the less and I still get to use SW.

If I was going, then I would have drove and you could have hitched a ride with me .

Well you guys have fun and drink a beer for me. Learn all you can while your there. Hey...if get any cool stuff get and extra one and send it to me here....I'll pay shipping...LOL
