Synchronisation of gates motion 1

Hi,

Any suggestion would be highly appreciative concerning the synchronisation of gates motion. (see attached picture). Which mechanism should I use for the synchronization. Chain mechanism or a threaded rod or else.

If I am reading the picture correctly, it appears that gate 1 is the driven gate and that gate 2 is to follow it. In this case, I would use a solid linkage, such as threaded rod.
 
Or you could use dual gear tooth racks with a pinion in between or you could ...
 
Didn't Thomas Jefferson or Ben Franklin incorporate something like this in the interior doors of his house??
 
What is meant by "synchronisation?" The gates are exactly at the same reflected angle throughout the motion? Or that the gates end in the same reflected angle at the same instant? Or that the gates end at the same reflected angle eventually?

I can envision gross differences in position based on frictional variations at the pivots. A chain seems more positive in assuring rotation at each wing. One question is what real estate is available to accomplish the motions?

You realize if you use a coupler link as in the pic that it becomes a 4-bar analysis.
Depending on the position of the coupler link and the length of the coupler the motion of the input and output gate may not be perfectly synchronized (or even very different). You will have to analyze it accordingly.
Perfect synchronization is easier with a simple sprocket and chain or timing belt and pulleys. You can use zero backlash sprockets to eliminate variational pose error when changing direction.

I am not saying it is not possible with a link. Just pointing out the problem.

@miketheengineer: u r right but I 'think' it will change the whole pneumatic diagram which is costly. What do u think?

@dvd: By writing synchronisation, I mean angles should be the same for both gates in both closed and open conditions. The answer to ur last question is that a pneumatic cylinder originates the motion of whole structure.

You will have problems with this requirement as I see your intent.
