Hi

I am stuck offshore without my complete library and very poor and intermittent bandwidth - can anyone tell me is there any guidance in IEC 61892-2 about installed generation capacity and system voltage selection?

NORSOK E-001 reccomends no more than 4MW at 690VAC.

Would you believe there is 15MW at 690VAC ? I think the shipyard must have had shares in a copper mine - I have never seen cables so big, and the operating current is 10000 amps and seems to be playing havoc with the instrumentation.

It is a recommendation not mandatory and everything was approved by the marine certification body designated. Look at separation, shielding and earthing. Too late to change now. Many old ships were like that. Nuclear reactors forced them into MV.
