T butt weld thickness restriction on AWS 1

Hi everybody

I would like to weld a 25mm thk plate on a 8mm shell tank by a CJP T butt weld connection.
I wonder if there is any restriction on AWS code that don’t allow me to design this solution? I couldn’t find any restriction…

The T-joint welded using a double bevel is prequalified with no restrictions with regards to base metal thickness. Welding a 25 mm thick plate to 8 mm material can present some issues with regards to limiting the loads the 8 mm base material will support without excessive distortion, punch shear, etc.
