Table UW-12 of ASME SEC. VIII DIV 1

I want to carry out UT in lieu of RT. Table UW-12 indicates joint efficiency values only if joint is radiographed. Where I could get joint efficiency values for UT joints?

UT is one of the NDE for inspection, but isn't credited for the joint efficiency.

Interpretation VIII-1-16-89 reads as follows:

Question: Do the joint efficiencies listed in Table UW-12 apply when ultrasonic testing is performed in lieu of radiographic examination, when allowed by UW-51?

Interpretations are not issued per edition. The important thing is that volumertic examination either RT or UT is performed. The Section VIII committee has not updated Table UW-12

I cannot talk about the 2017 edition of the code I still don’t get it. I understand that an interpretation remains valid until specifically annulled by the code, or implicitly annulled by other interpretation or by a revision or change in a VIII-1 paragraph.

Please take note that per VIII-1-16-89 interpretation the joint efficiencies of Table UW-12 can be used for ultrasonic testing ONLY WHEN ALLOWED BY UW-51.
