I use Bricscad... it's an Autocad workalike, and am starting to use tables (just 'discovered' them a week or so back). My scanner can produce an OCR doc with CLVs, and it's slick to enter data.

Is it possible in Autocad to make a 'carriage return (CR)' within a cell to force a new line?

Is it possible to remove the cell borders?

Thanks, Dik

Hi dik,
I am sure you can export text from tables in ACAD. Just havent needed it before so I do not know the details without trying it (but maybe later I will).

I'm writing now to let you know about Notepad++.

Thanks, been using it for years...

If you hold down Alt and hit Enter it should put a carriage return and allow you to use multiple lines in a single cell.

Pinwards: great, it works... thanks... any idea of how to get rid of the borders?

If you grab a cell in the table it should bring up the Contextual Menu at the top with a button "Edit Borders" in the Cell Styles portion.

Or you can grab a cell, then right click and Edit Borders.

Pinwards... we'll give it a try. I'll let you know how it works.

Works Great... thanks

Once you settle on a look for your tables, you can create a "TableStyle" with different font and border colors for Title, Header, and Data cells.
Beats formatting tables for every project/file.

Thanks... I'm delighted with tables... wish I had known about them earlier. Like paperspace, an Architect once told me not to use it... way too complicated. I listened to him for a couple of decades... big mistake. I've discovered how to create styles and they can be useful. I tend to be pretty constant about formats, notes, etc. few, if any, boxes, bold texts, etc. Another Architect, and former duck hunter, asked me why that part of the drawing was any more important than another.
