Experts,
I often use data validation in Excel to limit what users can add to the spreadsheet.
Is there any way that I can use validation in Excel behind a Tabular note and then make this portable via copy/paste or better still by adding as a template on the resource bar?
On my master part I create a table, edit this via spreadsheet, add a list of values via Data > Validation > List, key in a list of comma separated values or point to a list in the workbook, I now select a relevant cell in Excel and select a value from the drop down list. If I leave Excel, the tabular note updates perfectly.
All ok so far.
If I copy the table and paste it in to a different file, the spreadsheet behind the tabular note is no longer showing options, just the value that was set when the table was copied. Likewise if I import the values to a new spreadsheet from a saved file.
I suspect this is an Excel issue.
Any ideas or suggestions as to how I can achieve my goal by a different route?
Thanks in advance.
