Morning everyone. My company just got a single seat of Solidworks 2019 for a specific customer project. I have been using UGNX for 12 years, and this is my first run with SW in many years. I have opened the customer models, which is an assembly line. The main assembly is composed of a handful of smaller sub assemblies. I have a pick and place robot in the portion we are working on. The resting nest of the component we are picking is in assembly "A". I want to select that nest part/component, and copy it into the sub assembly "B" and fix its location, so when I have sub assembly "B" open in its own window, the nest is floating in space simulating its position on the entire machine. This will only be used as a visual reference, and I dont plan on including it in my BOM. Detail drawing will likely point out that it is shown "reference only".
I tried the CTRL and drag method, but that did not seem to work. I tried COPY/PASTE, and that didnt work.
UGNX allows me to select any component and basically copy/paste it into any other assembly or sub assembly. If done at the top level, it will retain its relative position in space with no mates, but can be fixed in place. How can I do this type of operation in SW2019?
Thanks.
