Gas blanketing is generally used in tanks to prevent ingress of Oxygen. API 2000 criterion is normally used to calculate the blanketing gas requirement for petroleum products tanks.
A term of “self blanketing” is referred that propagate that any petroleum product(s) whose evaporation rate is greater than 1.5 times the maximum draw off is self blanketed and does not need external source for blanketing.
