What material would be best suited for vessel casing in a situation where the unit heats a material up to 600F using an indirect heat source of steam and has the ability to be put under vacuum?

I am not exactly sure what question you are asking.....

It sounds, however, like you are looking for a particular type of shell-and-tube heat exchanger commonly known as a "steam heater". These are used extensively to heat liquids in the process chemical and the petrochemical industry .

This type of HX is commonly configured as a horizontal shell with steam on the "shellside" and the liquid to be heated on the "tubeside". A variety of metals can be used.....depending on the liquid to be heated.

If they operate over 15 psig, they must be built to the ASME VIII (unfired pressure vessel code) and, optionally, to the TEMA standards. The shell can be constructed to meet the maximum design pressure specified as well as "full vacuum" conditions.....

Thanks MJCronin, I have already figured the question out, but thanks for the advise anyway. In this case the design of the vessel is unique and I have gone by the CSA BG1 along with the ASME VIII codes in order to design it.
