Hi,

Is it possible to weld tantalum and alloy 20 ? or do we need to go with Brazing. I need to know the best suitable method for joining those two metals

TugboatEng, the artcle discusses titanium - not tantalum.

I thought that was a strange combo of alloys. Now it makes much more sense.

They cannot be welded. At least not directly.
What product forms are you working with?
It can be done with transition pieces where Ta is explosively welded to Alloy 20 and then cut into slices.
Then you can weld Ta-to-Ta and 20-to-20. But it is very limited on geometry.
There may be an option for brazing.
