Hi all,

im am trying to build a tool that winds a tape around a mould. the mould is spinning the tool hangs above it and only moves in the longitudenal direction of the mould.

I would like the tool to put a tension on the tape.

Currently I am doing this by using a DC motor that is stalling in the oposite direction of the tape placement. (tape is pulled down out of the tool en the motor produces a torque in the opposite direction.)

The problem with this is that the motor overheats very fast, and with the new requirements ive been given it is even worse.

The tension should be adjustible from 0 to 100 N.

Ive been looking into stepper motors and servo's but they are realy expensive (+€600,-). Ive also been looking at a mechanical solution but havent found a good one yet.

Does anyone know of motors that can do this, or possible an other method to create this tension in the tape.

Any information would be helpfull.

Kind regards,
