Dear All,

I would like to know if you have already experienced the use of taped joints on 132kV EPR/HEPR insulated cable systems ? If yes, is the background experience OK ?

Thank you for your help,
Foudrette

I would not recommend taped joints for 138kV. We are a cable testing outfit. We see very poor workmanship on simple premolded designs. Taped joints are complex and require a great deal of experience and expertise. Whatever you do, I highly recommend that you specify a 60Hz partial discharge test to comfirm the workmanship is up to IEEE 404 which require that joints have less than 5pC and 1.5U0.
