It is very simple to call a macro file, or a grip file from a modified TBR file. Here is the format for Macros:

BUTTON UG_EDIT_ATTRIBUTES
LABEL Edit Attributes
BITMAP $UGII_CUSTOM_DIR\tool_bars\bitmaps\attributes.bmp
ACTION $UGII_CUSTOM_DIR\tool_bars\macros\edit_attributes.macro

and for Grip files:

BUTTON UG_CREATE_ATTRIBUTES
LABEL CREATE ATTRIBUTES
BITMAP $UGII_CUSTOM_DIR\tool_bars\bitmaps\attributes.bmp
ACTION $UGII_CUSTOM_DIR\tool_bars\griplib\set_attributes.grx

I am able to run a macro from a .tbr but when I try to run a macro from a .men file I get the following errors:

File Execution Failed
-or-
None of the actions specified for this button were registered.

Is there an exact way I need to call for the macro? I have tried several different ways. I am on NX2
