Teamcenter Attribute mapping for NX

I'm looking to create an attribute mapping file for teamcenter that is able to take the item id and split into different attributes for NX. I have seen it done at a previous company but not sure how to go about it, either is GTAC.
Example:
Item ID = 1234567_ASSY_010
Attributes would equal:
PART_NUM = 1234567
PROCCESS_ID = ASSY
OP_NUM = 010

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are these items that are already in Teamcenter or that you are going to import into Teamcenter?
