I've a question or two concerning the capabilities of the teamcenter implementation piece that comes with the license bundles. As background, we can be considered 2 companies, with separate part naming/revision structures for both CAD and CAM files, as follows:
CAD: xxxxxxxx/rev
CAM: xxxxxxxx_xxx/rev
REV: company 1:
000 3 digit numeric for work in process; not suitable for machining
00 2 digit numeric only for released parts; suitable for machining
company 2:
000 3 digit numeric for work in process; not suitable for machining
00 2 digit numeric for 'adv released' parts; not suitable for machining but docs the cad file sent to an outside vendor
A1 2 char alpha numeric for released parts; suitable for machining. Alpha char signifies a change to the deliverable part to the customer, numeric digit signifies a minor change that doesn't change the part deliverable. Part revisions can, and often are, as follows: A1, A2, B1, B2, B3, C1, D1, etc...
In addition, we'd like to differentiate between CAD and CAM files, preferable via part attributes generated on 'new part, save, save-as, etc'. We're also running NX 'out of the box', with only user level customization implemented.
Ok... considering the above...
1) Can the teamcenter mentioned above be configured to the mentioned part naming/revisioning scheme, or will we have to migrate the part names/rev to a common scheme?
2) Can this lite weight version of Tce recognize 2 diff types of part files as mentioned above?
3) Can this lite weight version handle any meta data or custom queries? ...via various attributes to part files whether cad or cam?
4) Can the aforementioned Tce archive and handle any files outside of NX generated files (cam process docs, prt files, etc)?
Any help, suggestions, cautions, etc... would naturally be appreciated. We have Siemens coming in for a detailed question/answer session and to define a SOW. However, our salesman can be considered technically challenged as to specific capabilities, and all i'm getting is the push for multiple add-on packages, blah ad-nauseum (Not at all knocking my salesman mind you, but he is a salesman).
TIA... and feel free to add or offer up anything you wish relevant.
Regards,
SS
CAD should pay for itself, shouldn't it?
