Is this what you were looking for?

The 'trick' is to get the 'start' points to line up on your two sections. To that end I modified you first sketch replacing the vertical line on the right with 2 line segments. This allowed me to have a start point on both profiles that lined up when I created the transition using the Through Curves method. Note that once created, you can edit such things as the continuity between the sections. I used G1(Tangent) for both ends, but you can change that if you wish.
