Hi guys,

What reference would you recommend for someone who wants to learn low voltage/medium voltage power design in industrial/generation/waste water plant settings? I know that Industrial Power System handbook gets mentioned a lot (just ordered) and IEEE red book. I skimmed through the red book and it looked like it might be a good reference for a novice, but for someone who'd like a bit more in depth presentation and examples, it might not be worth the dollar.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
EE

The following links also will be useful:
- GE Industrial Power System Data book (2015-01)
- Cahier Techniques- technical publications by Schneider Electric

Modern Power Station Practice: Vol.D: Electrical Systems and Equipment has a wealth of information. The older editions pop up now and then on Amazon or eBay, the current volumes are expensive.

The Westinghouse Electrical Transmission And Distribution Reference Book is out of print but quite usable, especially if you're used the European ways of doing things and are trying to understand the crazy 60Hz world. If you look around there are pdf copies out there; no, I'm not posting any links. [wink]
