I posted a thread a while back and most of you were telling me that the board will not approve my PE exam application but since I am stubborn, I applied anyway. Guess what? They are letting me take the exam this April.

They do value engineering technician experience. You will need some design experience also, but technician experience does count. So for some of you out there who were not lucky enough to get a "design" first job, it is ok.. it will go toward your experience.

Congrats, that is great news. I am taking the exam in April as well (Mechanical... Machine Design).

Good Luck,

COEngineeer;
Well done. Your example is an excellent one for people to follow, always check with your local Board because they have the final say, not anyone on this forum.

Good Luck

You're inspiring other tech people to take your footsteps who somehow dream or perhaps on the verge to become a PE.
Big cheers!!

I counted mine as well, several years ago. It normally is good, as long as you are showing the you are advancing.

To be honest, I think it is some of the better experience you can have. It is always fun to snicker behind the backs of those that really don't have a clue how it comes together.

As with many details of the state licensure process, the results will vary depending on the policies and procedures of your particular state board.

Some state boards may be flexible about technician-level experience. Others may not. You could document your experience with exactly the same wording and submit it to two different boards: one might accept it and one might reject it.
