Hai,

I have a fitting DN 1000 mm which is having cross long seam as what i understood picture attached here the weld joint is allowed in ASM A 234 WPB fittings the thickness is 12.7 mm.

If the fitting manufacturer gives R.T certification for that joint is it ok?

Is the item subject to the PED 2014/68/EU?

Mr.XL83NL,

PED not applicable, the fitting will be fitted in the pipe for the CHILLED WATER DISTRIBUTION LINE (EN 253). The ASTM A 234 WPB is allowing welding construction but not mentioned this type of radial joints in the fittings.

what is going on here???

This appears to be a spiral welded pipe which has been induction bent to a fixed bend ( doesn't look like an elbow 1.5D to me, but maybe it is). Bit odd, but so far so good.

but then there is a weld along the inside bend. Eh?? where did this come from? why is it there?

The plates were joined and made one half section of elbow like this two half section elbows joined by two longitudinally joints. My doubt is ASTM A 234 specifies fusion welds is allowing This joint is acceptable if manufacturer gives the joint is R.T found acceptable. or i have to prove the welds is OK by the U.T.

The radial joint found in the higher sizes of elbow's from DN 900 mm to DN 1600 mm. For me i have to be clear before asking the R.T report from the supplier and furnishing to my client that this weld joint is allowed by standard i have to provide the proof from standard. ASME B 31.1 is the code in site followed.
