Tekla Tedds

At my firm we currently use Enercalc 6.0 and I have been frustrated lately with the amount of crashing/errors and the fact that it does "black box" calculations. I came across Tekla Tedds software and have downloaded the trial to evaluate it to potentially present it to the firm partners for consideration. One thing that has surprised me (to the point where I think I am missing something) is that, from what I can tell, if you were to design a series of wood beams you would have to input your load combinations for each individual beam. This seems time consuming enough that I suspect there is a better way to do it. Is there a way in Tedds to input global load combinations? For example, could I pre-load the ASCE 7-10 load combinations for use in an entire project? Or have a shortcut way to recall them for each beam? We are a production based firm and having to input load combinations for each individual beam would greatly slow us down, but there are features (mostly the ability to make simple modules) that I am still very interested in Tedds. Can anyone who has experience with Tedds offer some advice or confirm that this is the method you have to follow?

To the best of my knowledge, you are correct that the combinations have to be inputted every time. I suppose that you could save a partially completed calculation which includes your load combinations, then copy that file using "save as" whenever you need it.

This situation occurs to some extent in many Tedds modules. If you intend to design concrete footings, you should look at how that module handles load combinations. We don't use Tedds for intensely repetitive production, so it has been only a minor annoyance to us.
