Is there a table or something that can say anything about the effect on yield stress at temperature for different materials? (steel preferably)

Regards

Tommy

blckwtr;
Normally, yield strength will decrease as a function of increasing metal temperature. There are mechanical property data and graphs that show the effects of elevated temperature on yield strength for metals. For steel in particular, if you have access to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code books, Section II, Part D, one of the Tables lists actual yield strength values for carbon and low alloy steels as a function of service temperature.

If this source is not available, you can locate on the Internet the Military Handbook titled Metallic Materials and Elements for Aerospace Vehicles, MIL-HDBK-5H, there is also a later edition of this handbook.

I may be wrong on this one, but in ASME I think this yield strength is allowable stress?!

Yield strength is not allowable stress by definition. There is another, Table Y-1 in Section II, Part D that lists actual yield strength values.

Thank's Metengr...

It's however a jungle out there with different specs on steel grades. It isn't easy to find the correct steel type when you know the european standard or vice versa...

Just another question, I think may have been asked before on these forums. Does it exist a conversion table between different standards? (UNS, ISO, DIN, AISI etc)

It has been asked and answered multiple time. Perform a search using the words Equivalent and Metal.
