Hi,

Would anyone happen to have some temper curves for EN25 & EN26?

We have one set of curves for EN25 and two sets for EN26. The curves for EN25 are showing suspiciously high Izod toughness values, and our curves for EN26 show different tempering temperatures by 100degC. So we're in a bit of a mess! Trying to get this data from the steel manufacturers is like getting blood from a stone (I've tried everyone I can think of).

Even just a quote of what temperature the worst temper-brittleness occurs at for EN26 would be a big help.

You need to be more precise in your request, because "temper curves" and "temper-brittleness" are not meaningful engineering properties. Are you interested in curves showing the izod toughness vs. testing temperature for grades EN25 and EN26 that have quenched & tempered to a specified hardness/strength range? Or are you interested in izod toughness vs. tempering temperature when tested at a specified temperature (room T?)? Is the sample geometry the standard Izod sample as specified in ASTM E 23 or equivalent?

TVP,

Sorry, I used terminology from my workplace. I'll try to rephrase things.

The curves referred to were supplied by the steel manufacturers, and show how the material properties vary with tempering temperature, after being soaked at 850degC and quenched. I suppose the best way to explain what I'm searching for, is to say I'm after the EN25 & EN26 equivalents of the type of charts found here:

If you open the PDF for 'Atlas 6582' you will find a similar chart on the third page, although it lacks Izod toughness in that example.

The testing & application would be at room temperature. The data we have does not say what the sample geometry was.

Thankyou.
