Hello All,

My company is currently fabricating three LNG Tanks, and the temperature can reach -265 Deg. F. I am in the process of trying to purchase some 4" and 6" 150# Flanges that would be good for this temperature. Some of the Flanges will need to be Stainless Steel, and some are Carbon Steel. Does anyone have any recommendations on what materials are good for these temperatures, or a Flange vendor that would be able to provide Flanges for this service? Thanks...

There is one series of carbon steel good for -75 F the others are good for only -50 F. You will need to stick with 304L as the most economic and readily available. Be sure to get the low temp bolts, L7.

Yes. You should purchase and review ASME B16.5. All of the information regarding flanges, material, use and design are discussed.
