Hello everyone,

I would like to simulate a high velcity (500 mm/s) Tensile Test of a polymer (Polyurethane). There are 2 parts, one is fixed and the other one is moving. The problem is that the Abaqus/Standar abort at about 35%.
I see a node of one part is locked in the other part (image attached).

What can be happening?

Model Characteristics:
.Static,General
.Surface To Surface (I tried both formulation and both method)
.Tangential behaviour-frictionless
.Normal behaviour-hard contact_default

Thank you in advance for your help!

Bruno

Is there a specific reason you have this setup in Standard? If not you might have better luck with convergence. For simulating fast systems it is usually better to use an Explicit model instead of a Standard one.

I have setup in Standar because I have an overclosure to solve in the first step (before the traction). I use the "Interference Fit" option in the SurfaceToSurface contact.
Is it posible to solve an overclosure in Explicit?

Thanks
Bruno
