How would you determine the load capacity in tension on a soldered 1/2" coupling for Type K or M copper tubing? Load is hanging.

The following web site provides the equation for a typical lap joint solder connection;

You will need to determine the shear strength of the solder metal - tin base or other alloy?

the shear strength could be calculated if you know the tensile strength of the solder using von Mises criterion where

shear strength = tensile strength/square root of 3
