I am runnning a preliminary analysis on structural glass. This is a preliminary study to define geometry.

Glass must only be in compression, never tension.

How do I tell whether the stress results that cosmos spits out are tensile or compression stress?

thanks!

Von Mises stress is a positive scalar. You need to use a different measure. You will need to use principle strain.
