Hi all

I would like to ask you, for a cold forming of steel , to use the material properties data in simulation , is it reccomended to do the tension test ( untill UTS point) for every lot of material ? I add that it is better to be done on different deformation speeds , that might be more time consuming

For cold forming steel, the Active Standard ASTM E290 | Developed by Subcommittee: E28.02, 180 degree bend test may give you better results.
B.E.

You are judged not by what you know, but by what you can do.

great point thanks a lot, what about the frequency of the tests then ? like the way I said , for every lot ? or once ?

and one curiousity , why this test is better ?

There is one point that our material is wire , and I noticed there are ASTM torsion tests for wire as well , but it seems that this bending test determines the quality of material against cracking also, but the material shape should be sheet ( or thicker than sheet but not wire )
