Hi everyone,

I'm current working under ASME vessel project that required ASME 2019 edition. On the visit with AI for materials inspection, they have rejected SA-105N flanges because there is no specimen shape and size specified on MTRs. After checking with Sect. II Part A, I found that MTR only require the gauge width if longitudinal strip specimen is used. So my question is: Do we need specimen shape and size in MTR if the manufacturer didn't used longitudinal strip specimen?
Thanks.

You don't need an MTR period. See UG-11 and UG-44.
