Can anyone describe how to test a brushless generator. Looking to test stator - no issues, PMG stator no issues, main excitor stator no issues. Will test diodes - no issues.

Just need to clarify the exact correct way to test the rotor. Would disconnecting the diodes & dc cables from the diode plate/IR testing from earth to cables be correct?

Assume to test main excitor/PMG rotor I'll need to IR from rotor other side of diode plate to earth testing both simultaneously?

Can anyone please confirm

Sounds reasonable: just split it testable sections. For a small set I wouldn't go too high on the megger test voltage - 250V should be ample. Obviously check continuity too. [wink]

Before doing anything more I would just flash the rotor. Sometimes they just use the residual. I hate things that I can't explain but it just seems to work.
