Hi there!

I need to test the CO2 Fire Fighting Generator Protection, but I'm worry about some effects in the generator itself (stator-rotor insulation, air coolers).

Do anybody have some experiencie in this kind of issue?

Thanks in advance!

Is it a new or existing system? If it is a new system, NFPA 12 (I think--I am traveling on business) requires a complete functional test including a discharge test. If it is an existing system, a discharge test is not required. You are required to annually weigh the CO2 cylinders and recharge them if the required volume of CO2 is < 10% of the minimum discharge capacity as well as a 12 year requalification frequency if you are using high pressure cylinders. Hoses are on a one year inspection and five year testing frequency. The detection system (if provided) requires an annual inspection frequency.

Yes, you right, it is a new system, we have afraid of contamination and corrosion in Generator parts.
Thanks

Why, it is carbon dioxide. How will it impact the performance of a generator?

Stookeyfpe:

We have a water condensation in air cooleres of the generator, I think that CO2 could react with water in acid decreasing the life of copper tubes. Another hand I would like to test the system when the generator is running with low power production to check the Trip, other thing is temperature of coils is as hot as 90°C against the CO2 wich will be cold, some thermical shock could occurred. Another design issue is that we have only one CO2 rack for 3 Generators.

Thanks in advance

Thank you. I learned something about your process.
