hi,
ASME PTC 9.0, BS 1571 etc. refer to testing air compressor by use of differential pressure measurements across a standard orifice, venturi or nozzle.
A common method used at site conditions for testing reciprocating compressor is Pump Up Test 'by noting the time taken for rise in pressure in the storage receiver of known volume'.
My question is 'How accurate is the second method?' & 'Whether we should take all the trouble for setting up a ASME specified set up when there is simpler meausurements like Pump UP Test possible'
