We are a manufacture for electric products, we have a new product coming out and we would like it to have the proper certification. We contacted a testing agency to do that. There engineers offered to do the testing at our manufacture /or for us to send a unit to there agency.

My question: which is better sending it to them or having them come to us to certify the product???

I would rather they come to your own facilities to test it if it is at all possible. That way you can monitor their test methods.

I would tend to agree with dingy2 with the caveat that depending upon the type of certification(s) that you need, it may be easier to send the product out. Complicated test equipment setups and environmental considerations sometimes come into play. Either way, you should be able to have someone monitor the testing at the very least to be a resource on how the product functions and/or is intended to function.
