Do i need to open the ct terminal bridges?

You should not be asked to do this without direct supervision.
Our instructor warned us about the "Big Orange Basket Ball", which was often the last thing that a person saw when opening CT circuits with current flowing.
The following blindness was often temporary, but best avoided.
Look up the instructions of the test set.
Be patient.
Don't try do do anything before your instructor/mentor gives you direct instructions.
A very old electrician/engineer told me when I was a young hot-shot;

The Old Guy said:
Son. I never wanted to be the smartest electrician. I always wanted to be the oldest electrician!"
