Testing wear on servo and proportinalvalves

Hi. Im making a testrig for testing the wear on Servo- and proportionalvalves. As im not a 100% hydraulics man I would like to now if anyone can help me to find out what i kind of wear I should test for and how to do it. Or if anyone know any litterature on the subject that might be helpfull.
