Hi,

I want to apply compression force on the convexity curve of spine while allowing the concavity growth? How can I simulate this tethering procedure? Any help or ideas would be highly appreciated.

Recommended for you

Few folks here will understand jargon (such as tethering) from your area of interest. Please formulate your question in general engineering terminology. Furthermore, this is something you will have to struggle through yourself with some assistance from your supervisor.

That being said, I would strongly recommend distilling the problem (one that you are ultimately interested in solving) down to a toy problem on which you can test your ideas, iterate, and learn fast. For instance, a 2D cross-sectional lumbar/cervical/thoracic scoliotic spine FE model with a small number of 2D elements might be a good starting point. There is a lot more to it than just that but I will wait before I drown you in advice.

Thank you so much for your suggestion. Since I am very new to abaqus, I have a lot to know. For now, I am trying to figure out on how to start and then carry on my work. If I get into some issues, I will try to ask my question in specific way so that everybody could understand.
