Text engraving and UDF 1

Hi,

I would like to create an UDF for engraving text but I didn't find the way to store the choice of the text inside the UDF even with string expression. Is it possible with NX8.5 ?

The ability to include a 'String' expression in a UDF is not currently supported.

You can have the UDF look for an expression and use that value for the text.

See the attached file. The expression that this is looking for is "TXT1" for line 1 and "TXT2" for line 2 etc.

I was assuming that DidierPSICAD wanted to edit the value of the 'String' Expression as part of the workflow while adding the UDF to the model. Granted, once the UDF has been added to the model the 'String' expression can be edited, but it will not be seen as part of the 'definition' of the UDF itself.

For this UDF to work you need a datum csys, a solid and an expression called "TXT1" etc. Make sure that the expression is set to string.

once you have all of that activate the UDF.
1. Pick the center point of the datum csys.

2. pick the surfaces the text is to be placed on.

3. pick the solid.

when it is done the text will be trimed and then united to the solid.
