Occasionally, I come across some interesting articles on LinkedIn. Here below please find a link to one such article. It is regarding selection of metals for brewing beer ( craft beer) .

While you read, I raise a toast Cheers!

( ps, if it is found that this article will serve better, to have a greater audience in Pats Pub,please RF this thread).

Nice one, with an interesting read. As pat's pub may be restricted to some members who dont have access, this is a good place I think

As a beer swilling metallurgical engineer, I enjoyed this.

Stainless steel cookpots are cheap compared to copper, I've always used them without problems for brewing. Never even considered aluminum.

Oh, and 5-gallon plastic buckets (polyethylene) make great fermenters.

I think a lot of brew pubs choose copper, at least for the part of the works visible to the patrons, just for looks. It has a nice warm glow to go with their artisanal atmosphere. Stainless steel looks more antiseptic.

I am surprised that the article failed to mention that copper reacts with many sulfur compounds that cause bad odors and flavors, which humans can detect at part per trillion levels. Some egg dishes require copper pots and copper stills make better tasting product that stainless steel.

dbooker630,
Thanks for the pictures!
As an aficionado of both metals and lager, I'll stop in if I'm in the neighbourhood.
