There's hope for the future; the grill is making a comeback. For a while there I felt that the "less is more" crowd was taking over. Is it too logical to place the grill generally in front of the radiator? My concern is convective cool down in hot running engines.

yes, what a relief... for a while I thought that aerodynamics and efficiency might win out over styling and flamboyance.

Pedestrian safety will drive the design of the nose for the next few years I suspect.

Cheers

Sadly, pedestrian safety hasn't eliminated Bull Bars (unless they are all foam rubber fakes now).

But i do like the retrospective influences, some suitably subtle, that are restoring some sense of individuality to some cars.

Look at the retro Chevy SSR; it has a grill and wonderful lines. I predict that this model takes off. On the other hand, my local Chevy dealer claims they are taking orders for $5000 over list. I'm not that crazy about the model. Sanity will prevail after a while.

yeah, some dealers will do that whenever demand is high. When I bought my Mini, there were dealers asking $2k over list. Locally the deals were more reasonable, luckily for me, and I got mine @ list. They were willing to negotiate on financing, but not the sticker price.
